    Seals, Birding, Animals

    The Dry Salvages are a small outcropping of rocks about 2.5 miles off the coast of Rockport. We take experienced paddlers there on tours and frequently see seals and unique birds in the area. On occasion we also see giant ocean sunfish!

  • Bioluminescent Night Kayaking

    New for 2026, When most people think of glowing ocean creatures they think it only happens in warm waters like Puerto Rico and Florida. But at the end of a nice sunny summer (Aug/Sept) we also can get some epic bioluminescence too! Created as a defense by microscopic zooplankton and comb jellies if you have never seen this phenomenon it can be a life changing experience! We only offer this tour on dark moonless nights Aug/Sept. Learn more about these creatures with our knowledgeable guides. We provide headlamps, and boat lights to keep you safe.

    Gloucester Harbor/Annisquam River

    Join us for a beautiful and educational scenic tour of Gloucester Harbor or the Annisquam River. In Gloucester Harbor is one of the best sea glass collecting beach in the North Shore (Ten pound island). See the famous “Dog Bar”, and Stage Fort where we successfully repelled the British during the war. You might also get to see some of the Wicked Tuna boats. We also love to cruise around the Annisquam marshes were we see tons of birds and stop for snack break on Wingaersheek beach. These are custom tours contact us for more info.

    Island Tours

    Straitsmouth Island (1 mile paddle) and Thacher island (2.5 mile paddle) are open to the public (for a fee) and have beautiful trails, light houses, and are important breeding grounds for many species of birds. Combine a paddle and a hike and see what life might be like as a light keeper.

    Coastal Paddle Kayak or SUP

    Not quite ready for a big adventure, or want to try our stand up paddle boards (SUPs)? This is the trip for you, come see the coastline from the perspective of the water. See what the view is like for the rich and famous, play in the waves, spot some birds, and have a chill paddle with no where to go and no where to be! We often have time to stop on Straitsmouth Island and climb the lighthouse when it’s open. Watch a video of our coastal tour here

    Evening tour

    We can’t guarantee a beautiful sunset (depends on the time of year obviously). But the evening is always a little cooler and there is a lot less boat traffic to play frogger around! Come join us for a peaceful evening paddle!

    Kayak Sailing Tour

    Brand new for 2025! Join our guide for a 2 hr sail/paddle in our tandem sailing kayak for a relaxing sail/paddle through Sandy Bay. Want to experience the power of the wind, and learn the basics of sailing and paddling? Depending on the winds we often sail to the Dry Salvages to watch the seals, Straitsmouth Island, and Granite pier. We typically have the guide at the helm to teach you the basics, then stop at the dock to let you be in charge of the sails for a bit. 2 people maximum, no minimum. Great for those looking to gain some sailing experience, and have the flexibility to paddle as well.

  • Essex/Ipswich River and the Great Marsh

    Essex/Ipswich River

    Our most popular custom kayak trip from 2022, this trip can be customized for length, launch locations, out and back or just go with the tide/river. We often see horseshoe crabs and other unique species and lots of beautiful scenery. Email us for more info

    The Great Marsh/Plum Island Sound

    A new tour in 2023, come explore the largest marsh ecosystem in all of New England. Breeding grounds for many rare bird species and we almost always find horseshoe crabs too! This is a custom tour timing and locations will be tide dependent. Please email us for more info.

    Thacher Island Camping

    Other Island Camping Locations Available

    A guided paddle to Thacher Island that includes an overnight camping experience on the island's campground! Our guides will lead you there and stay overnight with you or not, as you wish. This trip is great for Scout or school groups, as well as any group of friends or family who want to sleep with the seagulls under the stars! See the Camping on Thacher Island page for more details. As expected all tours are subject to change or cancellation based on weather, staffing, and other unexpected issues. Timing is flexible in the early/late season (April, May, Sept, Oct), but less flexible during peak (June, July, Aug.). Island access fees are included in the tour price. Large group (10+), veterans, and senior discounts are available upon request. Daily tours only run if we have a 2 adult customers minimum signed up, camping tours with 4 people minimum. We have a $10/person 24 hr cancellation policy, so if you need to cancel, let us know with at least 1 day notice please.
